Each timed test includes 165 questions: 150 scored and 15 unscored practice items, with a 135-minute timer and closed-book format.
Part B — Practical
720 questions covering inspection measurements, AWS Book of Specifications navigation, WPS and welder qualification, mechanical testing and NDE. Includes original digital exhibits, diagrams and supplied measurements.
Each timed test includes 46 scored questions, with a 120-minute timer and open-BOS format.
Part C — API 1104 Codebook
418 questions covering procedure and welder qualification, production welding, repair, inspection, acceptance, materials, reports and records. Includes code lookups, rule questions and calculation exercises.
Each timed test includes 65 questions: 60 scored and five unscored practice items, with a 135-minute timer and open-codebook format.

Part B uses the AWS Part B Book of Specifications—2017, U.S. customary units, linked in the course. Part C requires your own authorized API 1104, 22nd Edition, including applicable corrections. Confirm permitted references with AWS before your examination.
The actual AWS Part B examination uses physical specimens and inspection tools. This online course provides digital practice; physical samples and tools are not included. Hands-on instrument practice should supplement your online study.
